How to Join Custom Bedrock Servers (Xbox, Switch, PlayStation)

Minecraft Bedrock Edition's console versions (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch) have a built-in limitation: you can only see the official "Featured Servers". Unlike PC and Mobile, there is no direct button to "Add Server".

However, there are two proven ways to bypass this restriction and join any custom server you want!

1. Using the DNS Method (No App Required)

This is the most common way for console players to add any server by changing the console's network settings.

  1. Go to your console's Network Settings.
  2. Select Set Up Internet Connection and choose Manual/Advanced.
  3. Change your Primary DNS to 104.238.130.180 and your Secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS).
  4. Restart Minecraft and join any Featured Server (e.g., The Hive or Lifeboat).
  5. Instead of joining that server, a custom menu will appear!
  6. Click Connect to a Server and enter the IP and Port of the server you want to join.

2. Using the "BedrockTogether" App (Mobile Trick)

If you don't want to mess with your DNS, you can use a free app on your phone.

  1. Download BedrockTogether (available on iOS and Android).
  2. Make sure your console and your phone are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Open the app and enter the IP and Port of the custom server.
  4. Click Watch Ad & Run.
  5. On your console, go to the Friends tab in Minecraft.
  6. Look for "BedrockTogether" under LAN Games and click it to join!

3. Why join custom servers?

  • More Game Modes: Access specialized modes like Lifesteal, Anarchy, or custom SMPs that aren't available on featured servers.
  • Better Performance: Some private servers are more optimized than the large featured networks.
  • Community: Play with a smaller, more dedicated group of friends.
TIP

Always check if the server isCross-Play (GeyserMC) compatible if you are trying to join a Java server from your console!
