Between the Mace and Spears of 1.21 and the Golden Dandelion and Copper Trumpets of 26.1, your inventory space has never been more valuable. In early 2026, the Minecraft meta has shifted to favor vertical mobility and animal preservation. Here is our official Tier List for the best items in Minecraft 26.1.
S-Tier (The Essentials)
- Netherite Pickaxe (Efficiency V): Still the king of mining. In 26.1, the new Java 25 performance improvements make "Insta-mining" feel smoother than ever.
- Mace (Wind Burst Enchantment): The ultimate 1.21/26.1 weapon. Launching yourself with a Wind Charge and smashing down is the fastest way to kill any mob or player.
- Totem of Undying: Required for high-level PvP and Hardcore survival.
- Golden Dandelion: The breakout item of 26.1. Essential for any aesthetic builder or pet owner.
A-Tier (Highly Recommended)
- Elytra: Essential for travel, though the Mace has made ground-based combat more dangerous.
- Wind Charges: The "ammo" for your Mace and a great tool for climbing towers quickly.
- Craftable Name Tags: With 1 paper + 1 metal nugget, these are now easy to carry and use on any pet.
