The Redstone Revolution: Automating 1.21 & 26.1
For a long time, redstone was about simple doors and basic item sorters. However, the introduction of the Crafter in 1.21 and the Copper Note Block (Trumpet) in 26.1 has completely revolutionized how we automate and interact with the game.
In this guide, we'll look at the current 2026 state of redstone and how you can use these new tools to build more advanced machines than ever.
1. The Crafter: True Automation
The Crafter is the most powerful redstone block ever added. It allows for the fully automatic production of nearly any item in the game.
- Auto-Sorting Compatibility: Use a crafter at the end of your item sorter to transform raw ingredients (like iron and sticks) into finished products (like pickaxes) instantly.
- The "Locked Slot" Strategy: To ensure your crafter only makes the items you want, remember to click on the individual slots in the 3x3 grid to "lock" them. This prevents extra items from filling the wrong slots.
2. Copper Note Blocks: The Music Machine
The 26.1 update added a new "Trumpet" sound for Note Blocks placed on copper.
- Oxidation Tones:
- Clean Copper: High, bright braying sound.
- Exposed Copper: Slightly more muffled.
- Weathered Copper: Lower, more "vintage" brass tone.
- Oxidized Copper: Very deep, low-frequency trumpet.
3. High-Tier Automation Ideas
- The Auto-Mace Bench: A system that collects resources from a Trial Chamber and automatically crafts Maces as you need them.
- The Multi-Track Copper Orchestra: By combining different levels of oxidized copper, you can build full brass-band style music machines that play automatically.
- Automatic Gold Dandelion Farm: Since Gold Dandelions are high-value for keeping "Forever Babies," building an automated crafting bench for them is essential for large-scale sanctuaries.
Technical Check: With the new Java 25 Virtual Threads, large-scale redstone machines now have much less "Update Lag." You can build much more complex systems before seeing any impact on your server's TPS (Ticks Per Second).
