How to Find Structures (Villages, Mansions, Biomes) Fast

Finding specific structures like a Woodland Mansion, Stronghold, or Village can sometimes take hours of exploration. If you are in a rush or playing in creative mode, Minecraft has a built-in search tool called the /locate command.

1. Enabling Cheats

To use the /locate command, you must have Cheats Enabled in your world or have OP status on a multiplayer server.

2. Searching for Structures

In Minecraft: Java Edition

  • To find a structure: /locate structure <StructureName> (Example: /locate structure minecraft:village_plains)
  • To find a biome: /locate biome <BiomeName> (Example: /locate biome minecraft:cherry_grove)

In Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

  • To find a structure: /locate structure <StructureName> (Example: /locate structure village)
  • To find a biome: /locate biome <BiomeName> (Example: /locate biome jungle)

3. Teleporting to the Result

Once you run the command, the game will display the coordinates of the nearest match in your chat.

  1. Java Edition: You can simply click on the coordinates in your chat to automatically paste the /tp command into your chat bar.
  2. Bedrock Edition: You'll need to manually type /tp <X> <Y> <Z> using the coordinates shown.
NOTE

The/locate command only finds the nearest structure of that type to your current position. If you want a more global view, use an online tool like Chunkbase by entering your world's seed.

  • Stronghold: For finding the portal to the End.
  • Trial Chamber: To test your combat skills in the new 1.21 update.
  • Woodland Mansion: For the rarest loot and Totems of Undying.
  • Ancient City: To find the Warden and the rarest chest loot.
